The most important message for every person is that of the need for repentance.
With wonderful exposition, Boston opens up a multitude of scripture passages on an issue that it is the duty of every Christian to tell the world of - the impending judgement that awaits each one of us, the call for repentance now, and a message of hope and assurance only to be found in Christ.
Thomas Boston held a pastorate at Simprin in Scotland until 1707. The congregation was very small but he was an extremely popular preacher, though self-effacing - considering that he had but "small talents." He was reluctant to publish his works, although he wrote out completely all of his sermons before they were preached. Many have therefore come to be published after his death at the age of 57.
