Many consider the Beatitudes in the Sermon on the Mount the "bottom line" of Christian living. I confess that for years, I had a very superficial understanding of this very familiar passage in God's Word, and then I read Thomas Watson, the Puritan, and was also privileged to sit under my husband, Wayne's, preaching on the subject! I was repeatedly gripped with sorrow over what I had missed, both for their weightiness & my inconsistency in reflecting such Christ-like character. God used this window into His word to inspire me (in 2001) to begin writing songs for the Beatitudes. At last, these songs have come to fruition, and we are humbly grateful to God for all His provisions in enabling us to produce them. ~ Judy Rogers
This music could be described as "heart searching" and is similar in its tone & sobriety to her first recording, "Why Can't I See God."
Judy Belcher Rogers was born and raised in the Appalachian Mountains of southwestern Virginia. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Belcher, are dedicated Christians who taught their children the love and fear of our great God. Mr. Belcher is blessed to be very musical and Mrs. Belcher is a wonderful writer of stories, poems, and songs. These gifts were present in all four of the Belcher children and they have all sought to use them for the Kingdom of Christ. In 1971, Judy married Wayne Rogers, a native of North Carolina. Wayne has been a Reformed Presbyterian pastor since 1971. Their three children, Emily, Christian, and Jon Isaac, were the greatest reasons Judy began writing songs in the early 1980's. Believing that music is powerful and that our children can learn much more than we often give them credit for, Judy began writing songs that would be distinctively biblical, thought provoking, and melodically addicting! Wayne suggested that Judy write songs for the major themes of the Westminster Children's and Shorter Catechisms.
